Merlin star Colin Morgan joins cast of new Irish movie The Rising
The Fall star will has been cast in the historical drama
Colin Morgan has been cast in a new Irish film about the 1916 Easter Rising.
The Merlin actor will play Seán MacDiarmada, the Irish political activist who was executed in Kilmainham Jail 1916, in the historical epic.
Starring alongside the Armagh man is acclaimed Scottish actor David O’Hara – most famous for his role in Braveheart.
The Departed star will have a feat on his hands as he undertakes the role of 1916 rebellion leader James Connolly.
The Rising: Colin will play historical figure Seán MacDiarmada in the film | VIPIRELAND.COM
The Rising will be the first full-length motion picture looking at events leading to and including the 1916 rebellion in Ireland.
The flick will centre on Colin’s character Seán MacDiarmada, one of the seven leaders of the Easter Rising, who was the last of the men to be executed, aged 33, alongside James Connolly on May 12th 1916 .
The movie will be released to a global cinema audience in 2016, the centenary year of the Easter Rising.
