Last night on Syfy, Americans finally got to experience the Merlin series finale. But don’t worry, we’re here to help you handle your Merlin actor withdrawals!

It’s no secret that we here at Hypable are big fans of Merlin, and were very upset about the series’ end last December.
We did our best to help send the show off with a bang, celebrating with a series of articles under the headline Month ofMerlin, and doing a full series rewatch on our Talks of Camelot podcast.
But until now, we’ve been able to avoid feeling the loss of the show, because as long as it was still airing in the U.S., it wasn’t really over. Well, Merlin fans, that excuse isn’t going to work anymore.
So what’s next? For the cast and crew, it’s a lot of very exciting new projects! And we couldn’t be happier to see most of the actors and writers finding new work because it means that we still get to watch them do their craft.
Here is our guide to the cast and crew ofMerlin, which will hopefully help you in the days and weeks (and let’s face it, months and years) to come.

Julian Murphy & Johnny Capps (creators)

Although you’ll find that the season 5 finale left fans very divided, there is no question that Capps and Murphy created a wonderful series.
The pair left the Merlin production company Shine, following the end of the show, but the good news is that they’ll still be working together, as executive producers on the new BBC series Atlantis.
Set to take Merlin‘s place on Saturday nights on BBC One this fall, Atlantisfollows the young boy, Jason, as he arrives in the mythical and mysterious city of Atlantis.
And, like with Merlin, we all know the story: the famous city will eventually sink into the sea. Will we see that in the show? Probably, yeah. But before that, we have Jason and his friends embarking on what are sure to be epic adventures in a modern retelling of ancient Greek myths.
We’re sure that all Merlin fans will loveAtlantis, especially seeing as Capps and Murphy are involved!

Colin Morgan (Merlin)

Of all the former cast members, it’s safe to say Colin Morgan has been one of the most active in securing roles since the end of BBC’s hit fantasy drama.
Since wrapping on Merlin, Morgan has landed a role in BBC’s upcoming mystery drama Quirke, based off of the popular book series by Irish writer John Banville (writing under the pseudonym Benjamin Black).
Quirke, which is set in 1950s Dublin, is set to air sometime next year on the BBC; fans of Morgan can expect to see him in the third episode of the series entitled “Elegy For April” where he will play a local crime reporter who knows more about the mysterious death of a young girl than he lets on.
Fans who are lucky enough to find themselves in London sometime this summer can also catch Morgan at London’s historic Globe Theatre where Morgan is co-starring in the theatre’s stage production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.

Katie McGrath (Morgana)

Since finishing Merlin, McGrath fans have been able to catch the young actress in the 2012 miniseries Labyrinth, which aired in March in the U.K. and has since been released on DVD. McGrath will also appear on Dates, a Channel 4 drama which airs in June.

Finally, American audiences can look forward to seeing the newly blonde McGrath this fall on the new NBC seriesDracula. Here she plays the young, vapid socialite Lucy Westenra, best friend of main female character Mina Murray (Victoria Smurfit). Dracula also stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as the title character, and is set in Victorian Era London.

Angel Coulby (Guinevere)

Gwen fans almost didn’t have time to miss the actress at all following the end ofMerlin, as Coulby was already back on our screens in January. Starring in the period drama Dancing on the Edge, she played the jazz singer, Jessie, and we even got tohear her sing!

Coulby has kept a fairly low profile since then, but don’t worry: she has joined the cast of Sky Atlantic’s The Tunnel, a remake of Scandinavian thriller drama The Bridgeset in Britain and France. The cast also includes Clémence Poésy, Stephen Dillane and Joseph Mawle.

Anthony Head (Uther)

Although we won’t get the chance to see Anthony Stewart Head as the Uther-esque King Clarkson in The Selection, since The CW chose not to pick up the reworked pilot episode, there’s still ample opportunity to watch Head in something besides Buffy rewatches (which, let’s face it, we’ll be doing anyway).

Head will be taking over the role of the centaur Chiron in Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters from Pierce Brosnan, who played the character in Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

In the second Percy Jackson film, Chiron will most likely only be seen at Camp Half-Blood, but we’ll take it! This kind mentor is much more Giles than Uther, and we can’t wait to see Head put his own twist on the role.

The actor has also recently wrapped up filming for two movies, titled Convenienceand Flying Home, both set for release in 2013.

Eoin Macken (Gwaine)

Though Macken has kept busy since the end of Merlin by working on a few of his own side projects, American fans of the show can look forward to seeing the former Knight of Camelot on their television screens this fall!
Macken will star in NBC’s new medical drama series After Hours where he will portray the role of T.C. Callahan, an ex-army man who comes to work the graveyard shift at a small hospital located in San Antonio, TX after getting discharged.

Tom Hopper (Percival)

Tom Hopper is heading out to sea in his first post-Merlin role! The former knight will star in Starz’s upcoming eight part mini series, Black Sails, produced byTransformers director Michael Bay.
The new pirate drama will act as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classicTreasure Island and will follow the tale of the dangerous Captain Flint and his band of pirates.
Hopper will play a pirate named Billy Bones, first mate of The Walrus who becomes caught up in conflict between Captain Flint and his arch nemesis. ThoughBlack Sails is currently being filmed in Cape Town, Africa, fans will unfortunately have to wait until early 2014 to catch this new series on television.

Santiago Cabrera (Lancelot)

Fans of Santiago Cabrera can rest easy knowing they’ll soon be seeing him in yet another knight-like role! It was recently announced that the former Merlin actor would be starring in the upcoming BBC/BBC America co-production of The Musketeers.
Cabrera will take on the role of Aramis in the upcoming adaption of Alexandre Dumas’ classic tale set during the time of the French Revolution. The Musketeers is currently in pre-production and is set to premiere sometime next year.

Alexander Vlahos (Mordred)

Vlahos has been staying busy since the end of Merlin. In early 2013, he starred inthe excellent BBC miniseries Privates, and has since then announced two Kickstarter projects: one for a music video he will be appearing in, and one for a play titled Gardening: For the Unfulfilled and Alienated.

It was recently announced that Vlahos will be appearing as Malcolm in a stage production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which sees seasoned British actor Kenneth Branagh in the title role, and Doctor Whoactress Alex Kingston as the haunting Lady Macbeth.

Finally, Vlahos has also recorded new episodes of The Confessions of Dorian Gray, the popular BBC radio production, as well as an adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Bradley James (Arthur Pendragon)

Since wrapping on the series, Merlin’sBradley James has kept a fairly low profile. Fans of James, however, can catch him in the recent sports film drama Fast Girlswhich was released just last year.
Fast Girls follows a group of female runners who dream of going for Olympic gold. In the film, James portrays the team’s physiotherapist and the love interest of main character Shania Andrews (Lenora Crichlow).
As for what’s next for the former King of Camelot, only time will tell, but just like you, we here at Hypable are hoping to hear casting news involving Mr. James sooner rather than later!

Rupert Young (Sir Leon) and Adetomiwa Edun (Sir Elyan)

Like Bradley James, actors Rupert Young and Adetomiwa Edun (who played Sir Leon and Sir Elyan respectively) have both kept a rather low profile since completing the fifth and final season of BBC’s hit fantasy drama.
Fans of Rupert Young can look forward to seeing him guest star in an upcoming episode of the BBC/Starz production ofThe White Queen. The series will tell the story of women in England fighting to take the throne and rule the country.
Fans of Adetomiwa Edun can expect to see the actor make his film debut sometime next year when he will star in director Anthony Onah’s debut featurePassengers.
That should satisfy and Merlin fan’s actor withdrawals! Of course we’re still waiting to hear what Bradley James is up to, and we wish him and all the other cast and crew good luck on future projects.

The knight who wouldn’t die: ‘Merlin’ actor Rupert Young reflects on playing Sir Leon

As Merlin wraps up its final season in the U.S., Rupert Young (Sir Leon) looks back on his time working on the series.

Not only do we mourn Merlin, which ended last December in the U.K., but also Leon, the spinoff show that never was.
The Hero Complex has a new interview with Rupert Young where he reflects on the series and recalls his best memories from the set.
Speaking about the show overall, Young shares his belief that Merlin improved from year to year. He says, “The first year was quite good, and the second year was definitely better, mostly because I joined [laughs]. And then it just got better and better.”
By season 4, “the format changed, and they shot it on a different kind of lens and different camera,” he explains. “Everything about it, the effects looked better, the stunts got better.”
Talking about his own character, Young provides a nice bit of new insight. “I always felt that Leon was kind of the annoying guy you’d have at school who did everything by the book,” he explains. “Leon was always a stickler for rules, who would probably be really annoyed if he didn’t win Knight of the Year award every year.”
As the longest-serving knight on the series, Young also remembers when each of the other knights would join the party.
“I remember one of the first days we were all together,” Young says, “riding into this castle with chain mail and cloaks and all of that, just looking ’round and going, ‘This is really cool.’ And there was a school party of 8-year-old French children looking up in awe, and we were like, ‘It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? Look at us.’ That was when we kind of bonded.”

Colin Morgan, who played Merlin ( Freemantle / May 24, 2013 ) "One of the most hardworking, welcoming people I've ever met. I think one of the best actors I've ever worked with. I would say that the reason the show is as successful--a major part of that is because of him. He was always on there and welcomed everyone to the set even if they're there for one scene or for a few years," Young said. "And he would just always give you so much. If you had a scene with Colin you would be better, I think. He's genuinely one of the nicest people. He loves acting so much and so committed. He gave his life over for the eight months we filmed. He's someone I am in awe of. I'd like to be a bit more like him."

“House of Glass” by Worship (2011)

Rupert Young is another actor who we wish we could see more of, but he has made a number of guest appearances on prominent shows like Shameless andPrimeval. But a must watch for Sir Leon fans is the music video for the British band Worship’s song “House of Glass.” You get to see him up close and involved in a bit of romance, which is sadly not something he ever got to do on Merlin (though we’ll never give up on Leon/Gwen).

Santiago Cabrera

Heroes (2008)

Santiago Cabrera is one of the most active Merlin cast members, and we could have picked a lot of different roles to include on this list. But we went with Heroes, because if you like knights and magic, chances are you’ll like superheroes and badass special abilities. In the first (and best) season of Heroes, Santiago Cabrera played Isaac the painter, and it is a very different role from Lancelot, let us tell you. But he is brilliant, and there is so much mystery surrounding the character, you’ll find yourself glued to the screen!

Alexander Vlahos

The Indian Doctor (2010)

If you’ve been as won over by Alex Vlahos’ portrayal of Mordred as we have, then you’ll likely be trolling his IMDb page looking for more work by him! We suggest beginning your Vlahos-athon with The Indian Doctor, the British period comedy following an Indian doctor (Sanjeev Bhaskar) who sets up a practice in rural Wales in the 1960s. It is an intriguing series, and Vlahos is great as the aspiring singer Tom Evans – so you get singing and a romantic arc in one! What’s not to like?

Samantha Fox joins stars of Harry Potter, Primeval, Doctor Who, James Bond at MCM Birmingham Comic Con & Memorabilia

Former pop star and pin-up Samantha Fox is to join the stars of Harry Potter, Primeval, Doctor Who and James Bond at the upcoming MCM Birmingham Comic Con & Memorabilia on March 16 and 17.

The Comic Con and Memorabilia events are held side by side at the NEC, Birmingham. Comic Con visitors get into Memorabilia free of charge. Children under 10 get in free if accompanied by a paying adult.

Listed below are some of the star guests lined up for the shows.

Potter Personalities: Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley in six of the blockbuster Harry Potter films, Steffan Rhodri, who was Reg Cattermole in Deathly Hallows and Hugh Mitchell, who appears as Gryffindor student Colin Creevey in The Order Of The Phoenix. Steffan is also famous for playing Dave in hit comedy Gavin & Stacey, and recently won plaudits as the voice of Drippy in acclaimed video game Ni No Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch.

Primeval stars Andrew Lee Potts (Connor Temple), Hannah Spearritt (Abby Maitland), also famous as an original member of S Club 7, and Lucy Brown, who played both Claudia Brown and Jenny Lewis.

For Doctor Who fans there's Colin Baker, who starred as the sixth incarnation of The Doctor, Nicola Bryant, who played his companion Peri Brown and Sophie Aldred, who was The Doctor's companion Ace. Other Doctor Who guests include Frazer Hines, who played Jamie McCrimmon in no fewer than 117 episodes of the show; Terry Molloy, best known as the Daleks' villainous creator Davros, and stuntman Jimmy Vee, who has played a host of monsters and aliens in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Bond girl and Avengers star Honor Blackman. Other Bond girls at Memorabilia include Shirley Eaton (Goldfinger), Lana Wood (Diamonds Are Forever) and Maryam d'Abo (The Living Daylights).

Gary Dourdan, best known for portraying Warrick Brown in eight seasons of the massively popular CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

A trio of bold knights from Merlin will be at comic con: Alexander Vlahos (Mordred), Rupert Young (Sir Leon) and Eoin Macken (Sir Gwain).

Canadian actor Connor Jessup, best known for his role as Ben Mason in the Steven Spielberg-produced sci-fi series Falling Skies.

Emmy-winning Italian actress Greta Scacchi, whose credits include Robert Altman's The Player, White Mischief, Presumed Innocent and Broken Trail.

Michael Beck, best known for his role as Swan in Walter Hill's 1979 cult classic The Warriors. Also appeared in hit sci-fi show Babylon 5.

Oliver! Reunion: Oscar-nominated Ron Moody, best known as Fagin in Lionel Bart's stage and film musical Oliver!, Mark Lester, who played Oliver Twist and Shani Wallis, who played Sikes' long-suffering girlfriend Nancy.

Masters of Horror: Best known by his stage name John Morghen, Giovanni Lombardo Radice achieved cult status with his roles in 1980's Italian splatter movies such as Cannibal Ferox, City Of The Living Dead and Cannibal Apocalypse. He'll be joined at Memorabilia by scream queen Madeline Smith (The Vampire Lovers, Frankenstein And The Monster from Hell) and Eileen Dietz (The Exorcist).

Derren Nesbit, best known as SS Major von Hapen in Where Eagles Dare. Derren's credits also include The Prisoner, Doctor Who and The Saint.

Adrian Hall and Heather Ripley, who played Jeremy and Jemima Potts in Ian Fleming's much-loved musical film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

British TV classics: Jan Harvey and Stephen Yardley, who starred as Jan Howard and Ken Masters in Howard's Way, and Judy Cornwall, best known for playing Daisy in long-running sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.

The stars of Merlin have congratulated Colin Morgan on his win at last night's (January 23) National Television Awards.

Bradley James - who played Arthur on the BBC fantasy drama - said that he was "beaming with pride" following Morgan's triumph in the category of 'Drama Performance: Male'.

"Don't know if it was obvious by the way I kept hitting him, but was and still am, beaming with pride for NTA 'Best Actor' Colin Morgan," he quipped on Twitter.

Rupert Young - Merlin's Sir Leon - also called Morgan "a legend and a worthy winner", while Alexander Vlahos (Mordred) described his co-star as "magnificent".

"Colin Morgan deserved that so much," wrote Vlahos. "Very fortunate to call him a friend and work alongside him."

Eoin Macken (Sir Gwaine) also tweeted to poke fun at rival Downton Abbey, which beatMerlin in the drama category.

"We didn't have any slow motion cricket - can't compete with that," he teased.

Speaking after the NTAs last night, Colin Morgan claimed that the rumored Merlinmovie is unlikely to happen in the near future.
