Merlin's Katie McGrath will lead the cast of new TV horror show Slasher
The eight-episode psychological thriller will focus on copycat killings in a small town.
Merlin's Katie McGrath will lead the cast of new Canada-based horror series Slasher.
The eight-episode psychological thriller will also star The Killing's Brandon Jay McLaren and Saving Hope's Wendy Crewson, according to ET Canada.
The actress, who recently starred in Jurassic World, will play Sarah Bennett, a young woman who returns to a small town years after the brutal murder of her parents.
A series of copycat killings have been plaguing the town and she finds herself in a situation where everyone is a potential suspect or victim.
Creator, writer and executive producer Aaron Martin said: "With Slasher, I wanted to tell a modern-day monster story but instead of a mythological creature, the 'monster' in our series is all too human."
He also spoke about being a fan of the horror genre, saying: "The series is a fusion of some of my favourite thriller genres - the classic slasher film, the contemporary murder mystery and the timeless works of my favourite crime writer, Agatha Christie."
Also starring in Slasher will be Steve Byers, Dean McDermott and Hannibal's Patrick Garrow
Filming has already started and Slasherwill debut sometime next year.
